Download Free Windows (Xp,Vista) Cleaner Utilities

Mar 5, 2009

CCleaner is a freeware system optimization, privacy and cleaning tool. It removes unused files from your system - allowing Windows to run faster and freeing up valuable hard disk space. It also cleans traces of your online activities such as your Internet history. Additionally it contains a fully featured registry cleaner. But the best part is that it’s fast (normally taking less than a second to run) and contains NO Spyware or Adware! :)

How WiMAX is different From WiFi

  • WiMax (802.16e) is a newer standard of wireless networking designed to provide the last mile of high speed internet access to the end user.
  • WiMax was designed to provide (MAN) Metropolitan Area Access, to homes and businesses.
  • WiMax provides up to 72 Mbit/s symmetric broadband speed without the need for cables
  • WiMAX enabling the delivery of last mile wireless broadband access as an alternative to cable and DSL
  • WiMAX uses licensed and unlicensed spectrum to deliver a point-to-point connection to the Internet from an ISP to an end user.
  • Different 802.16 standards provide different types of access, from portable (similar to a cordless phone) to fixed (an alternative to wired access, where the end user’s wireless termination point is fixed in location.)
  • WiMax is developed primarily for wireless metropolitan area networks (WMANs), with a transmission range of a few kilometers.
  • Wi-Fi uses unlicensed spectrum to provide access to a network.
  • Wi-Fi has primarily been developed for wireless local area networks (WLANs), with a transmission range of up to 100m. Wi-Fi therefore is often used for last-mile delivery, such as hotspots.
  • WiMAX and Wi-Fi have quite different Quality of Service (QoS) mechanisms.
  • WiMAX uses a mechanism based on connections between the Base Station and the user device. Each connection is based on specific scheduling algorithms.
  • Wi-Fi has introduced a QoS mechanism similar to fixed Ethernet, where packets can receive different priorities based on their tags. For example VoIP traffic may be given priority over web browsing.
  • Wi-Fi runs on the MAC’s CSMA/CA protocol, which is connectionless and contention based, whereas WiMAX runs a connection-oriented MAC.

System Cache Types

A CPU cache is a cache used by the central processing unit of a computer to reduce the average time to access memory. The cache is a smaller, faster memory which stores copies of the data from the most frequently used main memory locations.

Level 1 cache actually resides in the processor core and runs at the processor speed, very fast compared to the other RAM. Due to physical space constraints the size of this cache is small.Used for temporary storage of instructions and data organized in blocks of 32 bytes.Primary cache is the fastest form of storage. Because it’s built in to the chip with a zero wait-state (delay) interface to the processor’s execution unit, it is limited in size.

Level 2 cache rests outside the CPU core and before the DRAM. This cache will typically run at speeds below the processor speed, but it still faster then the DRAM and is far larger then L1 cache. The aim of the Level 2 cache is to supply stored information to the processor without any delay

Explanation of EIGRP Diffusing Update Algorithm (DUAL)

Mar 3, 2009

  • Maintaining a table of loop-free paths to every destination
  • DUAL saves all paths in the topology table.
  • Selects lowest cost , loop free paths to each destination
  • DUAL enables EIGRP routers to determine whether a path advertised by a neighbor is looped or loop-free, and allows a router running EIGRP to find alternate paths without waiting on updates from other routers.
  • EIGRP employs four key technologies, including neighbor discover/recovery, Reliable Transport Protocol (RTP), Diffusing Update ALgorithm (DUAL) finite-state machine, and a modular architecture that enables support for new protocols to be easily added to an existing network.
  • DUAL use AD & FD to select the best Path
  • An EIGRP router receives advertisements from each neighbor that lists the advertised distance (AD) and feasible distance (FD) to a route.
  • AD is the metric from the neighbor to the network. FD is the metric from this router, through the neighbor, to the network.

Learn about EIGRP Metric

Cisco’s EIGRP uses metrics; Delay, Bandwidth, Reliability and Load. MTU is NOT used in the calculation of the metric, however the MTU is tracked through the path to find the smallest MTU.EIGRP only uses Delay and Bandwidth with Bandwidth taking precedence

  • Bandwidth
  • Delay
  • Reliability
  • Load

EIGRP Metric = 256*((K1*Bw) + (K2*Bw)/(256-Load) + (K3*Delay)*(K5/(Reliability + K4)))

The k values are constants. Their default values are: k1 = 1, k2 = 0, k3 = 1, k4 = 0, and k5 = 0. If k5 = 0
